Hester Pit Disaster Exhibition - Exhibition of the 1862 Hester Pit disaster, in its day the worst mining disater in British history.  Including memorabilia.

New Hartley Memorial Hall, St Michaels Avenue, New Hartley

Saturday 10am - 4pm,  Sunday 10am - 4pm

Guided walk to memorial gardens on both days 1pm.  Walks last about 45 mins - meet at memorial hall.  Booking required

 

The Church of our Lady, near Seaton Delaval Hall -  900 year old Grade 1 listed, early Norman church.  The chapel of the Delaval family for 700 years, now the parish church

Friday 10am – 4pm,  Saturday 10am – 4pm,  Sunday 10am – 4pm

 

Seaton Delaval Hall, Seaton Sluice  - help shape the future of this Grade 1 listed building.  A masterpiece of Sir John Vanbrugh, built during the 1720’s.  Very fine stables and gardens.

Friday 10am – 4pm

Please note the hall will be open Sunday 14th September but this is not part of Heritage Open Days and entry charges will apply.

 

Roberts Battery Wartime Structures, Old Hartley

First World War Tyne coastal defence battery including fortifications, water tower and fortified latrine

The Bottleworks Project Art Exhibition, St Pauls Church, Beresford Road, Seaton Sluice

 

Art Exhibition showing the work of Northumbria

Artists as part of the ‘Bottleworks  Project’.  St Pauls was built as Ochiltree Hall in 1917, it became a church in 1961

Event to celebrate 100 years of scouting in Northumberland located in former Miners Welfare (1897) Display on scouting and buildings heritage.

Watch House

Rocky Island, Seaton Sluice

 

Grade 11 listed 1880 Watch House of the former Seaton Sluice Volunteer Life Saving Company.  Consists of lookout tower and muster room with photographs and exhibits.

Sunday 10am – 4.30pm

 

A free bus service is running between the venues to help people get around.  It is being operated by Go Ahead North East and will be marked 'Heritage Open Days'.
