Seaton Valley Community Partnership
Seaton Valley Community Partnership (SVCP) is made up of 4 community associations within the Seaton Valley area, New Hartley Community Association, Seaton Delaval & Holywell Community Association Ltd, Seaton Sluice Community Association & Seghill Institute Community Association.
The associations first came together through a project funded by the Big Lottery Funded Fair Share programme and have been meeting informally since 2008, becoming an established working group in 2010.
The aim of the partnership is to work collaboratively to achieve greater sustainability for community activity in the Seaton Valley area. Each association manages its own individual community centre and whilst all are in different villages, they all lie within 4 miles of each other.
The partnership has been working together in a more formal capacity for the past 2 years, meeting monthly as a working group, rotating meetings around each of the 4 centres. We have established closer working relationships, worked on joint projects and are now working proactively to enable the partnership to take increased roles and responsibility for the development & support of community action in our area.
To develop the partnership and improve communications, providing better services for our members and users
To share knowledge, skills and resources
To support and encourage collaborative working
To develop and increase community involvement and engagement
To promote healthy living, recreational, educational and community activity
Sustainability, Organisational and Impact Planning
2012 has seen the partnership working with external consultants to assess sustainability, organisational development, social impact and marketing & communications. This work has enabled us to accurately review the opportunities and challenges of collaborative working specifically identifying the need to continue working with a more formal approach. The outcome of the external consultants review has enabled us to identify our future aims and ambitions, gaps in resources, provision and delivery across our local community.
The partnership is now in the process of becoming a charitable company. We are working towards submitting funding bids to enable us to continue our work in supporting local community groups and activities, looking at new opportunities and filling gaps in provision identified through the consultation.
